“ Definitely try one of Romanos strombolis at least once as they are awesome! They definitely live up to the reputation of being the original stromboli. I tried the original hot and it was an experience and a meal on its own. The dough was just right just enough crunch on the outside, holds up the filling very well and the right amount of golden brown. The meat and cheese inside was perfect with creamy, melty cheese and a generous amount of meat inside. The marinara served on the side goes great and is very fresh...and the stromboli was just the right amount of heat. Just one thing Id recommend splitting this with two people as you get a lot of stromboli. Overall, Romanos has the feel of a little neighborhood Italian ristorante that is well kept and very cozy. The waiter who was attending to the dining area when I went was very friendly and attentive making sure both myself and the other party had what we needed and very personable. Not much else to say on the atmosphere its a simple restaurant and it does it right. I would love to try some of the other fair based on the hot stromboli as what I saw served at the other table looked very appetizing and tasty and I do enjoy Italian food and pizza. A couple of things to note 1 cards are accepted but cash is preferred they do have a charge added if youre paying with card and 2 this place is BYOB. Overall, I very much enjoyed the eating at Romanos and will definitely be coming back for another visit to try either a cheesesteak or some pizza. ”
“ Was trying to find an Italian restaurant open on a Monday, so glad we wound up at Romanos. This place has clearly been a neighborhood institution for 75 years for good reason. Wide variety of pasta, pizza, and of course originators of the stromboli. That alone is all the reason you need to come here. BUT, I think their tomato pie is a real star as well. A pretty thin square crust not as thin as the Trenton tomato pies with cheese on top, and then covered in a delicious tomato sauce it has a little zing to it. My daughter had an excellent meatball stromboli, and I got a cheesesteak stromboli. Ambiance was great clean, no frills spot, like going to grandmas for Sunday dinner. Staff was very nice and attentive. I had ordered the pizza to take home, and they had it ready as we settled the bill. All in all, a real local gem with an awesome history and tremendous food! ”
“ Romanos Strombolis are a staple in our house. Whether is a game day treat or just to have in the freezer for company. Their Strombolis are 5 and their family run operation is certainly 5! Thank you for your commitment to consistency and quality is well appreciated!!! ”
“ Born and grew up in Essington, PA. Romanos has consistently, for over 60 years, been my goto pizza stop! Always great square pizzas, outstanding service, and atmosphere. I grew up on Romanos food and highly recommend their pizza, Stromboli, salads, and Italian dishes especially the ravioli!. Stop when youre in Delco. You wont be disappointed! ”
“ Stopped by this place after a road trip from Toronto and was pleasantly surprised by the quantity and quality of the food here. As you can see from my photos, we couldntt wait to dig in. This is one that will definitely have me crossing the border again to satisfy the craving. Dont let the prices deter you its 100 worth it ”
“ Romanos has one of the best cheesesteaks in our outside of Philly. Perfectly done steak and a soft delicious roll. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Its also a Philadelphia area institution. With a history dating back to the 1930s they are most famous for inventing the Stromboli. If you are in the area and havent yet tried Romanos you really should! ”
“ Was there Saturday night with my girlfriend for the first time. Best stromboli I ever had and the sauce was just incredible. Server was very nice and food was out quick. Will definitely be coming back to try other items on their menu and the different pasta sauces they have. ”
“ On a cold winter day, after traveling from Pittsburgh, stayed at the hotel a few blocks from here. This place was well worth the price, after seeing the travel channel article and the birthplace if stromboli, we had to try this. They say the original is better, and this is true, this stromboli was perfect, flakey but chewy. Complimented by a delicious marinara, all house made.. this place is a true american local business and a sure to stop if youre ever in Philly, particularily near Essington near the airport. ”
